CiTIUS was founded in 2010 as a Singular Research Center of the University of Santiago de Compostela within the Campus Vida initiative. In December of 2019, it was recognized as one of the Research Centers of the Galician University System, being the only center in the field of Intelligent Technologies.

Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia, in northwestern Spain. The city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great, now the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, as the destination of the Way of St. James, a leading Catholic pilgrimage route since the 9th century. In 1985, the city’s Old Town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You can get more information in the Council Website and the specific Tourism Website of Santiago de Compostela and its surroundings.

This year 2021 is Jubilee Year, and thousands of pilgrims come to Santiago de Compostela using The Way of Saint James. This was also extended to the whole year 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Accomodation

Santiago is a small city, therefore the campus is easily reachable on foot from most hotels in the southern part and city centre. There are plenty of hotels you can choose, and there is also availability of some rooms from the University residences.
